Damien Rochford
Damien Rochford been sculpting since 2007 and works in a contemporary figurative style, realistic in form with reduced detail. Using a variety of materials when sculpting, including clays, polymer clay, plaster and waxes, each material has its own tactile and working characteristics, which influences how each piece develops. Along with the human form and portraiture he also loves animals as subjects—their beauty of form, movement, strength and spirit are a great inspiration. Many great sculptors have served as inspiration for his work, particularly and including; Henry Moore, August Rodin and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. By striving for a keen sense of balance, harmony of composition, pose, movement and form he achieves work that offers more than just a representation of his chosen subject.
